The beautiful Parlour guitar has a long history of playing soft ballads and songs of love. But don't be fooled this is a very capable instrument, it has a rich tone and performs well live or in the privacy of a parlour. These guitars have seen a revival in recent times as they are very easy to play and record well. Its my belief the sweet and happy sound has a lot to do with the revival of this instrument. What ever the reason the instrument has some very interesting features, it has a short neck scale, I produce a couple of variants on the neck join, 12th fret and 14th fret. As the neck is short it makes it easy to play some of the chords that are difficult to play on a regular guitar. As I mentioned the sound is bright and happy, it has good volume and travels well. Depending on you style I can set the instrument up for nylon or steel strings.
Because the torque of steel strings is up to 50% greater than that of nylon strings. If an instrument is setup for nylon, it is best to stay with nylon. The bracing, soundboard thickness and overall tolerances for nylon are different
to steel string. You can change from steel to nylon, but the sound is quite different than that of a dedicated nylon string guitar.
The question of price varies depending on the setup and detailing of the instrument, to discuss having an instrument made for you it is best to contact Peter at his Studio. PH : 64-3 328 8033
